The Goats

Our meat goats

We now have a small herd of meat goats, they have boer genetics which gives them the red heads and white bodies, and short but strong stature.

Summer Months

The goats live as naturally as possible on a forage based diet. They live outside during the summer months.

During the Winter

The goats come inside during the colder, wetter months as they don't like the rain. They eat hay and straw and a little nut to keep them happy.

Spring

The goats kid in the spring time. The does usually have two kids each.

Goat Meat

The goats are reared to between twelve and eighteen months and then the males are sent for meat.

The meat is sweet and has a delicate flavour. It is very healthy due to being very low in fat and high in iron.
